Location We assume you know where Belize is, since you have probably done a little research, but if you don't, we are directly south of Mexico, east of Guatemala and border on the Caribbean Sea. La Caribe is located approximately in the middle of the Placencia peninsula in a village called Maya Beach. To the south of us about 3 miles is Seine Bieght, a Garifuna village. Placencia, the main village, is located at the point of the peninsula about nine miles south of us. North of us about about nine miles is the village of Riversdale. We have hundreds of islands we call Cayes. False Caye, the closest one to us, is right off shore from Maya Beach. Our retreat is in close proximity to the longest coral reef in the Western Hemisphere. A short boat ride gets you there where you can snorkel, dive or fish. The lagoon, a vast body of water, is adjacent to La Caribe and is teeming with all sorts of fish. Our canal connects to it as well. To get here you can fly from Belize City International Airport to Placencia on either Tropic or Maya Island Air, about a 30 minute flight, and we will pick you up at the airstrip. You can rent a car at Belize City International Airport and drive down, which takes about 4 hours. Or you can take a taxi into Belize City to catch the bus down. This can take 5 - 8 hours.
